We have been working so hard this week on perfecting
our nativity performance. We’ve also
learnt a ‘tricky word’ song. This has
definitely helped us with our reading, we are becoming awesome readers and are
all progressing really well! Our kindness elf also arrived and we’ve enjoyed
choosing a name for him and writing letters to Santa.

We love writing!
The children have loved writing this week and have been choosing to do it in their ‘free flow’ time. I think the book about Princess and poo inspired them!! We are doing so well with our shapes and we have been sorting them into 2D and 3D shapes, remembering their properties and learning new names.

Shapes and art
Wow, the children have just blown me away this week! We have been concentrating on shape and the children have been fantastic at asking questions to find the properties of 2D shapes. We have also incorporated it with art by Paul Klee and the children have had a go at creating their own Paul Klee inspired pictures.
We've also been talking about anti-bullying which has sparked lots of conversations about feelings.

Bonfire Night!
Our focus this week has been fireworks and
feelings. We read a story called ‘Spark’s
in the sky’ which looked at both. We’ve
also joined in with a whole school firework themed carousel. We did lots of art, some food preparation and
dance and music with our friends in Orange and Green class.

Pumpkins and Autumnal Treasures!
Red Class are just loving Autumn. They love the colours, the falling leaves, finding things that have fallen from the trees and most of all pumpkins!!
So we have learnt a pumpkin song, explored the texture of pumpkins in the messy tray, explored shapes and made pumpkin faces with them and used potatoes shaped as pumpkins to make stamped pumpkin crowns.

listened to Oliver’s vegetables, we then made soup and experimented painting
with vegetables. We also had our first
school trip to the theatre to see ‘Oi frog!’ It was fantastic. Lastly we had our first trip to church where
we celebrated harvest with the rest of the school.

Autumn is here!
We have really embraced the fact that Autumn is here and have loved exploring our natural environments. We've brought the outside inside and enjoy finding things for our nature table on our way to school. We've also had a go at marbling, we loved mixing the colours and making them look like all the colours we see outside.
We also had great fun exploring numbers and have been using numberblocks to help us understand the numberness of numbers. Who would have thought we could have so much fun with uni fix cubes!! We've even started to record our numbers and findings!

Learning is fun!
We've had a wonderful week. We met Pete the Cat who has shown us that starting school and learning new routines and doing new things is nothing to worry about. Ask us and we'll be happy to sing 'we're rocking in our school shoes!' to you.
We've also learnt our second sound 'a'. We learnt the jolly phonics song and actions, we love singing. We also thought of lots of words beginning with 'a', we thought of alien, activity, acorn, ant and lots more.

But our most enjoyable part of the week has to be our first Forest School session..We just loved den building, pond dipping and of course tree climbing!

Welcome!
Welcome to Red Class!
We have had a fun few weeks getting settled and having
lots of adventures.
We are doing really well using our listening ears and have really enjoyed the story 'Listening Walk' by Paul Showers. We did a magic spell to make our ears huge so we could listen super well, we then went round the school using our special, listening ears.
